National e-Governance Plan

E-Governance refers to efforts in public sector to use internet to enhance the access to and delivery of Government services and information to citizens (G2C), businesses (G2B), employees (G2E) and other Governments (G2G).

To take a holistic view towards the entire e-Governance initiative across the State, a programme approach is required to be adopted, guided by the common vision, strategy and approach to objectives. This approach would have an added advantage of enabling huge savings in cost, in terms of sharing the core and support infrastructure, enable interoperability through standards etc, which would result in the citizen having a seamless view of citizen centric Government initiatives. Tamil Nadu has adopted the National e-Governance Plan which has the following main components; they are

Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Networks (TNSWAN)
State Data Centres
Common Service Centres
State Service Delivery Gateway (SSDG)
Tamil Nadu State Portal

Various departmental e- Governance initiatives are being implemented through Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) across various line departments of the State.
